Sensor yang mendeteksi keberadaan objek tanpa kontak mekanis, dengan prinsip yang bergantung pada tipenya. Diagram membedakan prinsip Sensor proksimitas; bentuk, terminal, rating, dan prosedur perangkat tertentu tetap mengikuti lembar data/standar yang berlaku.Nama standar dan jenis diagram dicantumkan pada setiap varian.Simbol IEC ditampilkan sebagai rekonstruksi edukasi, bukan reproduksi aset normatif IEC 60617. Untuk proyek kontraktual, verifikasi nomor simbol pada basis data IEC berlisensi dan standar proyek.

Jangan menganggap sensor induktif dapat mendeteksi semua bahan seperti sensor kapasitif.
